NTE | 35W Project Update December 2016
Drive NTE TEXpress, Provide Meals and Fight Hunger in Texas

In honor of the holiday season and a giving spirit, NTE Mobility Partners (NTE) is supporting cities and communities throughout North Texas through the regional food banks. This year, the NTE will donate proceeds from each toll transaction Saturday, Nov. 19 (up to $15,000 total) to the Tarrant Area Food Bank (TAFB).

Participants who drive on the NTE TEXpress Lanes (Northeast Loop 820 and Airport Freeway) this Saturday will help provide meals and fight hunger in Texas through the TAFB.

Happy Holidays from the North Tarrant Express Team!

Best wishes to you and your family during this holiday season! Have a Happy New Year!

During this season of giving, we want to extend our gratitude to everyone who drove on the NTE TEXpress Lanes on Saturday, November 19. With your help, we raised $30,000 to benefit the Tarrant Area Food Bank, which amounts to more than 120,000 meals to feed hungry people in the Dallas-Fort Worth area.

The team at the North Tarrant Express project thanks you for helping give back to the communities where we live, work and drive.

Only 10 Days Left to Drive on a Dime with Your Dime, Your Day

The holidays mean more time with your family - but what if Uncle Greg, Cousin Laura, Grandpa and Grandma are all scattered across the metroplex? Spend less time on the road and more time with your loved ones using the NTE TEXpress Lanes for just 10 cents per toll during December's "Your Dime, Your Day" holiday promotion.

On any remaining December day from NOW until Sunday, Dec. 31. drivers can use the TEXpress Lanes for only 10 cents per toll transaction during any 24-hour period of their choice.

Drivers select any remaining December day and then activate the discount(s) before entering the NTE TEXpress Lanes. Once the promotion is activated, a countdown clock will appear and the driver will have 24 hours from that moment to drive an unlimited number of times for a discounted 10-cent toll price for each transaction incurred.

The discount is exclusive to the NTE TEXpress Lanes on Northeast Loop 820 and Airport Freeway in Northeast Tarrant County. Drivers can activate the NTE TEXpress Lanes discounts simultaneously or on different days. You only have 10 days to use it so what are you waiting for?

I-35W Construction Activities and Closures

Everyone knows that Santa prefers the TEXpress Lanes when he visits North Texas, so we've planned some construction blackout dates to help ease his travel. Upcoming construction blackout dates include:

I-35W from I-30 to I-820

  • Thursday, Dec. 22, 12 p.m. through Tuesday, Dec. 27, 10 p.m.
  • Friday, Dec. 30, 12 p.m. through Monday, Jan. 2, 10 p.m.
I-35W from I-820 to US 81/287
  • Thursday, Dec. 22, 3 p.m. through Tuesday, Dec. 27, 9 a.m.
Note that these dates exclude any emergency closures and extended closures already in place, which include:
  • On-ramps to southbound I-35W from Weatherford Street and Gilvin Street (April 2017)
  • Off-ramp from southbound I-35W to westbound Spur 280 (April 2017)
  • Northbound I-35W exit to Meacham Boulevard (through July 2017)
  • Southbound I-35W off-ramp to Papurt Drive (through December 2017)
Subscribing to the NTE e-alerts and checking the website for updated closure and detour announcements are two easy ways to stay on top of upcoming construction activities and areas that may have delays.

Construction footage is also available on the North Tarrant Express YouTube channel, as well as aerial images on the project website.

Know Before You Go!

The holidays are upon us, and as the busiest travel time of the year, it's important to stay up-to-speed on closures, traffic shifts and lane reductions. Let North Tarrant Express help plan your road trips to visit out-of-town relatives and friends. We encourage drivers to check for up-to-the-minute information on lane closures and traffic detours on our Twitter and Facebook accounts.

We also post information about accidents and delays, which can help keep you on track when traveling along I-35W or the North Tarrant Express corridor along Loop 820 and Airport Freeway.

As always, please stay safe on the road - that includes refraining from texting and making phone calls while driving. While it's unsafe at any speed, remember that it's illegal to operate a cell phone in a school zone unless a hands-free device is used.

Be sure to "Know Before You Go!" You can find a complete list of current NTE lane closures here along with alternate route maps here.
