PROJECT OVERVIEW

About the NTE

Loop 820, circa 1963

The North Tarrant Express (NTE) project consists of a series of major highway improvements to the critical I-820 and SH-121/183 (Airport Freeway) corridor between I-35 West and Industrial Boulevard in North Tarrant County. The NTE will relieve congestion, improve safety and provide for anticipated traffic growth in one of the country’s fastest developing regions.

The project will improve the efficiency of the highway system by offering drivers a reliable choice during heavy congestion between the general purpose lanes and new toll managed lanes. The project will reconstruct interchanges and upgrade existing facilities to optimize operations.

Construction began in late 2010 and is on fast track for completion by 2015.

The NTE is being designed, built, financed, operated and maintained by NTE Mobility Partners, which is working in close collaboration with the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) and local communities. This important highway project will be wholly owned by TxDOT.

In partnership with local communities and the state, NTE Mobility Partners is committed to developing and operating the safest, most advanced and reliable roadways for drivers and their families.
